Derek is responsible for a range of activities from debt raising and capital structuring to arranging equity joint ventures to deal execution to business development. Through this role he has exposure to a range of frontier and emerging markets with extensive exposure to Ethiopia where he is a Director of a food processing business, a mainstream spirits business and advisor to a beer brewing business.

Additionally Derek has over 30 years of experience in financial markets as he began his career at NatWest and then Hambros Bank and then in 1998 joined Abbey National Treasury Services to establish a Global Project Finance and UK Property Finance team and grew the combined book to over $10bn. In 2003 Derek joined Consensus as MD of Consensus Capital where his team had a focus upon debt raising across the whole capital structure. In 2006 Derek then joined Three Delta as MD and helped grow its first fund to over £3bn of AUM’s before it was sold back to its Middle Eastern backer in 2008. Derek was also responsible for all new initiatives at Three Delta which included the formation of (a) real estate fund management business (b) asset management joint venture and (c) structured credit business.
